All our courses and activities are free for families with a child under 5 years old or who are expecting a new baby (apart from the Aquanatal group which costs £1.70 per session).

Mondays:

  • NCFE Level 1/2 Childcare course, Burngreave Children's Centre, Spital Street, 9am-1pm.  From January - July 2008. This course is full but you can contact Burngreave Community Learning Campaign on 279 4960 for information on new courses.

  • Summer Scheme - Burngreave Fun Days, Burngreave Children's Centre, 11.30-2.30pm. From 21st July until 25th August. We're holding a Fun Day at Burngreave CC every Monday during the school summer holidays, with different activities for kids each week!

  • Aquanatal and Baby Splash sessions, Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, 1.30-2.30pm. Meet at 1.20pm to allow time to get changed. Aquanatal sessions - get fit to music in a supportive environment with a qualified midwife. Baby Splash sessions are for babies from 8 weeks onwards who have had their first injection, and this group is open to children up to 5 and dads as well!

  • Parent and Toddler Group, Burngreave Children's Centre, 1.30-3pm (term-time only). Relax, enjoy fun activities with your kids and meet other parents - dads and mums both welcome!

Tuesdays:

  • C.A.B. (Citizens' Advice Bureau) sessions, Burngreave Children's Centre, 9.30am-12pm. Two appointment slots at 9.30 and 10am, then a drop-in from 10.30am-12pm. Access help and info on a wide range of issues e.g. housing, benefits, debt, disability, consumer issues, immigration etc.

  • Mums and Tots Group, Burngreave Children's Centre, 10am-12pm. Term-time only - restarting September 2008. Different activities each week for mums and their children.

  • Sheffield Information Link drop-in, Burngreave Children's Centre, 10am-12.30pm, 3rd Tuesday of the month. On 15th July, 19th August and 16th September. Drop-in and see our SIL worker and get advice and information about areas such as childcare/nursery places, activities for children, education, careers in childcare/early years etc.

  • Conversation Class, The Furnival, Verdon Street, 1-3pm. For parents who want to practise their English in a relaxed and informal setting!

  • Positive Parenting course, Burngreave Children's Centre, 1-3pm. 13th May until 15th July - new course starting later this year.

Wednesdays:

  • Family Support drop-in, Burngreave Children's Centre, 9am-12.30pm. Local families can drop-in and discuss any concerns around their children with a worker from our Family Support team, and get more information about our services.

  • Baby Cafe (drop-in), Burngreave Children's Centre, 9.30am-3.30pm

  • Breastfeeding Support Group, Burngreave Children's Centre, 9.15-10am. Starting 23rd July. Part of the Baby Cafe - find out how to get support whilst breastfeeding, find out how breastfeeding actually works, and make friends with other mums while your baby meets other babies!

  • Pregnancy drop-in/Burngreave Community Clinic, Burngreave Children's Centre, 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.20-3.30pm. Antenatal and postnatal drop-in - come and see a midwife! Health Visitor available from 10-11.30am.

  • Sheffield Information Link drop-in, Burngreave Children's Centre, 10am-12pm, 4th Wednesday of the month. On 23rd July, 27th August and 24th September. Drop-in and see our SIL worker and get advice and information about areas such as childcare/nursery places, activities for children, education, careers in childcare/early years etc.

  • Summer Scheme - Fir Vale Fun Days, Owlerbrook Children's Centre, Wensley Street, 11.30am-2.30pm. From 23rd July until 27th August. We're holding a Fun Day at Owlerbrook every Wednesday during the school summer holidays, with different activities for kids each week!

  • Baby Massage, Burngreave Children's Centre, 1-3pm. Baby massage can relax your child, reduce crying and encourage better sleep patterns!

  • Mums and Toddler Group, Owlerbrook Children's Centre, 1-3pm. Term-time only.

  • Family Support drop-in, Owlerbrook Children's Centre, 9am-12.30pm. Local families can drop-in and discuss any concerns around their children with a worker from our Family Support team, and get more information about our services.

  • Fir Vale Community Clinic, Owlerbrook Children's Centre,  9.30-11am. Includes a health visitor, early years worker, postnatal support and baby massage from a midwife (fortnightly), speech therapist (monthly), and you can get your baby weighed too!

  • Positive Parenting course, Owlerbrook Children's Centre,  Owlerbrook School, 1-3pm. Until 17th July - new course starting later this year.

Fridays:

  • Summer Scheme - Outdoor activities/trips, various venues, various times. From 25th July until 29th August. We're holding trip or outdoor activity in a park each Friday during the school summer holidays!
